🌊 South Coast Barrel – A Sneak Peek into My Gallery Journey 🌊
 
After years of telling myself “one day,” I’ve finally jumped headfirst into preparing for my gallery event—because apparently, there’s only so long you can procrastinate on your own dreams! 😅 This collection is a departure from my usual hyper-detailed automotive work, where I wielded plyboard and car paint like a creative mad scientist. Now, I’m keeping it a little more refined (for now).
 
🎨 South Coast Barrel
This piece marks the start of something fresh—my first south coast wave, captured with oil-based paint and sealed with a glossy resin finish that could make Poseidon jealous. I leaned into the movement, chasing the contrast and trying to capture that fleeting moment where light bends and shifts over the curling water. Every angle tells a different story, with the colors dancing and reflecting like they’ve got somewhere important to be.
 
It’s simple, yet striking—like nature’s own version of showing off.

      Ah yes, the blank stage where all the magic happens! This canvas is like the eager apprentice of the art world—triple coated with acrylic titanium primer, standing tall (well, square) at 90x90cm, and made from eco-friendly cotton duck. It’s sturdy, back-stapled, and ready to handle all the creative chaos I throw at it. Bonus points for the pine frame that smells faintly of possibility (and maybe a bit of sawdust).

    Primer:

    • Acrylic Water-Based Industrial Paint – White
      The unsung hero that lays the foundation for greatness. It’s industrial, so you know it means business. This stuff sticks like a loyal sidekick and preps the canvas for whatever wild idea comes next.

    The Gold, Copper & Silver Bling:

    • Mont Marte Imitation Gold Leaf

      Who needs subtlety when you can have shimmering gold, radiant copper, and silver that shines like moonlight on a crisp night? This is the jewelry my canvas wears—delicate yet bold, just like the art itself. Applied lovingly with gilding adhesive (and probably more leaf stuck to me than the canvas).

    Paint (The Real MVP):

    • Mixed Media – Acrylic & Oil
      Sometimes I can’t decide, so I use both. Acrylic for the vibrant punches of color and oil for the rich, buttery goodness that lingers on the canvas. It’s the art world’s version of “why not both?”

    Sealers and Finishing Flair:

    • Duramax Clear Lacquer Sealer (Matt Finish, 2-part Industrial Clear)
      This sealer locks everything in with the grace of a museum curator, giving it that perfect matte finish that whispers “I’m classy.”
    • Boyle Resin Surface Sealer + Protite Gloss Resin (Activated Clear Casting and Embedding Resin)
      For when I want that glassy, smooth surface that practically begs you to touch it (but don’t, seriously). This resin finish catches light like a dream and protects the piece from the curious hands of admirers.

    Frame (Because Naked Canvases Deserve Better):

    • Porta 30x19mm Tasmanian Oak (2.4m Length) – Stained in “Latte” (a warm, neutral light tan-brown that screams sophistication).
    • Copper Leaf Stripe with Navy – A subtle yet striking frame accent, like the perfect piece of jewelry for my artwork.
    • Assembled by yours truly, with hanging fasteners because I believe in functional art.
    • Floating Frame.
